Day 5 - Port Alberni

Port Alberni. Hard to imagine they'd have a dock big enough .. but they did. Pleasont looking harbour The town went all out to entertain their very first cruise ship. The had dozens of very tasty antique cars on display, a farmer's market, craft show, live music, food. And the person on the welcoming committee in charge of thw weather did their job VERY well. 100 1794 100 1804 Like the Beach Boys song, I'd have to take the keys away if she ever got her hands on her dream car.
See the tower with the clock on it ? Here's some shots from the tower 100 1803 100 1796 100 1797 100 1798
100 1799 The little park outside the market Antique trucks on display as well, all restored and all driven here. Quite possible my dad drove this one. No idea what this contraption is. I want one, though. BIGGG flywheel.
100 1815 100 1817 An "intermittent cycle" deisel engine. It fires when the speed falls below a certain RPM and then shuts off (mechanically) when the speed is up. I've seen models running off compressed air, but never one "in the flesh". Hoping to give an idea of just how big this boat is, but the perspective is off; it's bigger than it appears. A view straight up the lighthouse tower. (I'm flat on my back). Heading for home.
100 1832 Barclay Sound is sure nice. 100 1843 100 1824 100 1827 100 1828

100 1870 I have no idea what these things are poking out the water. 100 1839 The famous "March of the Baked Alaska". 100 1877 An arty shot of the side of the boat; hardly worth the download time, but I took it so it's here.
